A note from Summer
September arrived the way I always hope it will — with that particular quality of light that makes everything feel quietly significant, and the first cool morning that sends me straight to the kitchen to bake. There’s something about the smell of a pumpkin latte and something warm in the oven that makes the whole idea of home feel like a complete sentence. I think that’s exactly the energy I’m bringing into the studio this month — warmth, intention, and a real excitement about what this season makes possible in a space.
It’s also, rather wonderfully, one of the fullest Septembers I can remember. Three events, one beautiful bed installation, a panel I’m genuinely honored to be part of, and a rooftop evening with the Cherry Creek design community — I can’t wait to share it all with you.

Layer Your Bedding Like You Mean It
Gilded Botanicals — the September Featured Bed installation at The Brass Bed, Cherry Creek
The secret to a bedroom that feels collected rather than decorated is in the layering — and it starts with contrast. Choose one pattern as your anchor (a botanical print, a toile, a geometric), then build around it in solids that pull a single color from that pattern. Add one texture that’s unexpected: a velvet pillow against linen shams, or a woven herringbone throw over satin. The rule I follow: if you can describe your bedding in one sentence, add one more thing. A layered bed tells a story. A matched set just matches.
